New 2024 Porsche 911 S/T: A GT3 RS with a manual gearbox and the appearance of a GT3 Touring

Nouvelle Porsche 911 S/T 2024 : Une GT3 RS boîte manuelle avec l'apparence d'une GT3 Touring

Less extreme than the track-focused GT3 RS, the 911 S/T houses the RS's 518-horsepower 4.0-litre engine coupled to a 6-speed manual gearbox in the body of a 911 GT3 Touring.

The 911 S/T is a limited edition, using the 518-horsepower engine from the GT3 RS, the body of a GT3 Touring, and a manual transmission. It will be the lightest model in the 992 range, with a dry weight of 1,380 kg.
To celebrate the 60th anniversary of the 911, production of this limited edition will be restricted to 1,963 cars. Prices will start at around €300,000.
Porsche is once again seeking to prove to the world that it can make each new 911 model unique and distinct in its purpose.
And this time, the changes are quite special. Porsche is aiming for a blend of the GT3 RS's raw track performance and the still impressive, but more livable, nature of the GT3 Touring. The only element of the GT3 RS found in the S/T is the 4.0-liter flat-six engine and its 518 horsepower.
As the S/T is designed for twisty roads rather than timed attacks, the car's bodywork comes from the GT3 Touring, which is more suited to everyday use.
Giving up the grandiose visions of track days also allows you to gain a few tenths of a second in pure speed. Why is that a good thing, you might ask? Three pedals, that's why.
Why is "slower" better? Three pedals, that's why.
According to Porsche, the engineers who worked on the car developed a new clutch exclusively for the S/T. Combined with a single-mass flywheel, the new clutch reduces the car's rotating mass by approximately 11 kg. This, along with the shorter gear ratio (compared to the standard GT3), significantly improves response time, according to Porsche. The Porsche 911 S/T accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.5 seconds and can reach a top speed of 297 km/h on the track.
The engineers didn't just reduce the weight of the clutch. The hood, roof, front wings and doors are all made of carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP), as are the rear axle anti-roll bar and the shear panel (reinforcing element on the rear axle).
The car also comes standard with magnesium wheels. Porsche also equips the anniversary model with the Porsche Ceramic Composite Brake (PCCB) system, a lithium-ion starter battery, and lightweight glass.
Combined with the savings made on the powertrain, the S/T has a weight of 1380 kg, which is 40 less than a GT3 Touring equipped with the manual gearbox.
Carbon bucket seats
As evidenced by the notable absence of a fixed rear wing, Porsche designed the S/T's aerodynamic elements to be more suited to winding roads than a racetrack. The extendable rear spoiler is equipped with a Gurney flap.
CFRP bucket seats are standard, but four-way adjustable Sport Plus seats are available as a no-cost option. 255/35ZR-20 tires wrap 20-inch wheels at the front, while 315/30ZR-21 tires are mounted at the rear.
Regarding the special edition's styling, the optional Heritage Design package, along with the Shore Blue metallic exterior paint and Ceramica wheel color, are all exclusive to the S/T. The interior features classic Cognac-colored fabric seat centers with black piping. The Porsche logo and the 911 S/T model designation on the rear of the car are finished in gold.
To celebrate the 60th anniversary of the 911, production of this edition will be limited to 1,963 cars. Prices will start from around €300,000 and deliveries are expected to begin in spring 2024.
